The Name Haynes
This is not a family name that extends back over generations. It was a replacement for a Polish name (something like Hojnacki or something similar).

Why the name Haynes instead of Smith or McDonald? Who knows? I'm guessing the word sounded impressive to the young first generation Poles running around Chicago.

The Well Traveled Family
The family first emigrated from Poland and settled in Chicago. From there, different parts of the family moved to Indiana and Michigan. Following the course of many families, this continued as the next generation spread into Arizona, and Texas. A generation later, the family can now be found in Texas, Arizona, and Montana.

As for myself, I've lived in a series of states that start with Indiana. From Indianapolis, I moved to Dayton Ohio and on to Downers Grove Illinois. From there I moved to Washington DC, Alexandria Virginia, Austin Texas, Dallas Texas, and now Bozeman Montana.
